Dena Saslaw Schwartz - Level 2 ACEP class Polychromatic

Image
The subtle color differences when stamping with inks from the same color family are just amazing.  Once I started to create this card, I didn't stop until I had five cards with five colors.  I chose the colors of cardstock, one for each primary and secondary color of the color wheel.  I used two of the Garden Treasure stamps from the set for each card, the outline and one of the shading stamps, and repeatedly stamped the image to cover the panel. Once I stamped the flowers, I filled in open spaces with a leaf stamp from the set.  I die cut the YOU die from the Bold You set at the top of each panel and again cut the YOU from white cardstock to inlay the word in the panel.  To complete the message, I die cut the word thank with black cardstock and a shadow from vellum.  I adhered the thank to the vellum and to the panel.  To complete the card, I adhered the panel to a piece of foam, 4 x 5 1/4 and adhered the entire panel to a card front.

Dena Saslaw Schwartz - Level 2 Creative Watercolor

Image
I cut a piece of watercolor paper to a 4" x 5 1/4" panel and stamped the large die from the Magnolia & Bloom stamp set twice with embossing ink.  I then sprinkled the image with white embossing powder and heat set the image.  I used an older set of watercolor ink and started to color the image.  The embossing creates wells within the image where the color can be contained.  Once the color has dried, I added a wash of color to the left of the image and stamped a sentiment from the stamp set.  I added an arrow pattern of sequins to give the card additional bling.  The shine from the paint makes this card sparkle.

Dena Saslaw Schwartz - Level 2 In the Mood for Color

Image
Green is a soothing, peaceful color.  I chose to use different hues of green for this card.  I stamped the leaves with different green Distress inks around the edge of the left side of the card panel.  I used watercolor paper because is wanted to smooth out the ink.  Distress ink did not make a smooth impression.  I used my watercolor brush and smoothed out the image.  To give some depth to the images I lined the edge of many of the leaves with a Zig watercolor marker in light gray.  I added the Happy word which I stamped on a piece of vellum paper and stamped the word birthday on another piece of cardstock.  I attached the words to the card and added gems in a semi-circle pattern.

Dena Saslaw Schwartz - Level 2 Masking Unleashed

Image
Masking is a magical technique which allows for images to appear in a different order than was provided by the original image.  I used the Wavy Roses stamp set for this card.  I stamped the largest flower and leaves image on the card base.  I stamped the image again on masking paper and cut it out inside the lines.  I stamped the four leaves on masking paper and the small flower image on the masking paper too.  I cut out the images from the masking paper.  I stamped the small flower image around the main image.  I put the mask on the small flowers and then stamped the leaves, so they appear to overlap, making a full picture.  I colored the images to complete the card.  I added a sentiment and sequins to put bling on the card.

Dena Saslaw Schwartz - Level 2 Color Your Day

Image
This card was created with a formula for color elements.  70% of the card is blue.  I sprayed the back panel with glimmer paint to give the card an early evening vibe.  20% of the card is white with the skyscraper die cut outline.  10% of the card color is black, the sentiment stamped on the blue paper in the center of the card.  The spire on the top of the building just needed that gem for sparkle.

Dena Saslaw Schwartz - Level 2 Magic Marker Techniques

Image
This card is very simple.  I used a piece of copper sheeting to color the strips with Altenew alcolhol markers.  I took a few colors out and scribbled the color along the length of the sheeting.  I cut the pieces with heavy shears.  I rand the red line glue diagonally of the paper and attached the strips.  I outlined the white space with a black .03 marker.  I found an outline sentiment in my word stamps and colored the letters in a primary ink colors pattern.  I colored the horizontal line with gold ink and outlined the sentiment panel with the black pen marker.

Dena Saslaw Schwartz- Level 2 Beautiful Details

Image
This card was created by using the Garden Treasure stamp set.  I stamped both the leaves and the bloom with matching ink, green for the leaves and purple for the bloom.  The use three of the stamps for each image, the outline, the solid stamp and the shadow stamp.  I used a matching Inktensive pencil to add additional shadows to give the bloom a more realistic appearance.  The leaves just needed a few additional marks to complete each one.  To complete the card, I die cut the lattice background die as a base for the images.  I sprayed the lattice with gold glimmer spray.  After the panel was dried, I attached it to the card front with liquid glue and let it dry with a heavy weight on top to help flatten the work.  I attached the bloom and the flowers to the bottom left corner and die cut the scripty enjoy three times, once with gold cardstock and twice with white cardstock.  I stacked them together after putting glue on the front of the...

Dena Saslaw Schwartz- Level 2 ACEP With a Twist

Image
I love bird images.  The cardinal image is just perfect to use with any card but using the image with a window card was just up my ally.  To make the window, I cut a circle in two panels of white card stock.  I cut a piece of package plastic to cover the opening and be large enough to seal the embellishments between the cardstock panels.  I stamped the cardinal with two different colors of red ink and black ink for the other images to complete the image.  I stamped the branch with brown ink and added brown glitter ink to some of areas of the branch.  Once the ink set on the bird and branch, I stamped circle images from the Halftone Circles stamp set in various primary colors.  I stamped the words winter wishes so they could be seen through the circle opening.  I attached the front panel and the inside panel together and added the sending warm words, which I had stamped with black ink, to the top front of the front panel.  Lastly, I adde...

Dena Saslaw Schwartz - Level 2 ACEP Impressive Heat Embossing

Image
Pink is one of the happiest colors.  I chose dark pink in and paper to create this card.  As the instructor suggested, I stamped the leaves in pink ink, wiped the ink off the stamps and re-ink the images with clear embossing powder.  I heat set the powder, rotated the paper so the same image was stamped on all sides of the panel.  I repeated the pink ink stamping on the white panel and the clear embossing ink on the pink cardstock.  I completed the card by die cutting the pink paper with a rectangle 3.75" x 5".  I stamped the sentiment with embossing ink and sprinkled white powder over the image then heat set the sentiment.  I mounted the pink panel on the white panel with foam stripes, added the butterfly embellishments.  So cute!!

Dena Saslaw Schwartz - Level 2 ACEP Beyond Basic Background Card

Lesson 3 of this class gave me an idea for the perfect thank you card.  Using the Floral Alphabet set, I chose the letters to spell the name of the recipient.  I laid out the letters randomly, facing in different directions.  I used my MISTI so the embossing ink would provide the right amount of ink.  I used sticky embossing powder and heat set the images.  I tried to use transfer foil, but the results were unsatisfactory.  I restamped the letters and used gold embossing powder.  I love the results.  I hope you agree.  The added black ribbon bow was just the right finishing touch.
